Anterior Segment thematic unit deals with diseases of the cornea and anterior segment. The consultant ophthalmologists in this thematic unit are Dr's Mukiri Mukuria, Millicent Kariuki, Millicent Bore and Dr Stephen Gichuhi

The Department holds community outreach activities twice a month. During the outreach, patients with eye diseases are treated and those requiring surgery are operated on. The outreach centres include Garissa county Hospital, Litein Mission Hospital, Mwingi County hospital and Makueni County Hospital
