Prof Jeffery Goldberg and Prof Geoffery Tabin gave online lectures to the students and staff of the Department of Ophthalmology on 22nd July 2021. The intention was to give a physical lecture on their visit to Kenya but due to the prevailing pandemic, they delivered online lectures. This is the profile of the visiting Professors:
Prof. Jeffery Goldberg BS, MD, PhD
Prof. Jeffery Goldberg from Stanford University is the Chair of Ophthalmology and a glaucoma specialist. He’s a well renown glaucoma clinical researcher in optic nerve neuroprotection and regeneration in the USA and directs an NIH-funded research lab working on new investigational devices.
This was his maiden visit to our department albeit, online due to COVID limitations.
Prof. Geoffery Craig Tabin BS, MA, MD
Prof. Geoff Tabin from Stanford University is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Global Medicine. He is a specialist in Corneal and Cataract surgery. He founded the Himalayan Cataract Project that provides cataract surgery services to the underserved. Geoff loves to climb mountains and has climbed all the top peaks on each of the 7 continents of the world.
He has visited UON and KNH many times before to perform surgery and been invited as a guest speaker at our ophthalmology conferences in East Africa.
